Isom’s Homemade Caramel Apple Recipe

Isom’s Famous Homemade Caramel, ready for hand dipping your Honeycrisp apples into. This is one of our families favorites.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Butter
  • 2 1/2 Cups Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 Cup Light Corn Syrup
  • 1 (14 ounce) can Sweetened Condensed Milk

In a heavy saucepan, stir butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup together over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and reduce heat to medium. Cook until a candy thermometer reads 250 degrees F (120 degrees C), 25 to 30 minutes; stir constantly to prevent burning. Add a can of sweetened condensed milk and stir gently while on the heat. Turn off heat.

Work quickly, dipping each apple into the hot caramel to completely coat the apple and about 1/2 inch of the wooden handle and place on greased paper.
